FBS (Nano-free)
Fetal bovine serum (FBS), also known as fetal calf serum, offers essential nutrients and growth factors for the maintenance and growth of cultured cells. Cell-based applications are an integral part of basic research, biochemical studies, vaccine development, and drug discovery to name a few. FBS is the most used serum in cell-based applications as it provides the most robust culture system for the widest range of cell types.Since 1962, Gibco FBS products have been a global market leader. Through Thermo Fisher Scientific’s unwavering commitment to quality, scientists using Gibco FBS have been provided with consistent reliability, service, value, and innovation. Discover the performance differences that abm Fetal Bovine Serum can deliver for your research and production.
Performance based on science, not geographySpecifications, not origin, help drive consistent performance. We commissioned an independent research group to survey more than 500 researchers around the globe. This is what we learned:
• Only 7% of FBS users believe that country of origin is the most important indicator of FBS quality.
• Almost 80% said they would purchase from categories that were clearly delineated by quality indicators (i.e., endotoxin, hemoglobin, growth performance, virus testing, etc.) that matter to their research.
Based on these findings, we transformed our FBS portfolio into categories focused on quality indicators rather than origin; Value FBS, Premium FBS, and Premium Plus FBS. Now you can easily select the best sera for your needs based on how they perform, not where they came from. This also enables us to minimize supply disruption since there is less reliance on origin.

Serum-Free Media
Serum-free media are specialized formulations designed to support the growth and maintenance of cells without the use of animal serum. These media provide all the essential nutrients, vitamins, amino acids, and growth factors required for optimal cell growth and functionality. By eliminating serum, which can introduce batch-to-batch variability and potential contaminants, serum-free media offer more consistent and reproducible results.Product List: Serum-Free CHO Media, Serum-Free 293 Media
Specialized Medium and Kits
abm's PriGrow Series and specialized media kits are custom-formulated to support specific cell culture applications, offering essential nutrients, growth factors, and supplements for optimal cell growth, differentiation, and maintenance.
Ideal for various applications with stem cells, primary cells, and/or engineered lines, these kits provide reliable, reproducible results for research in gene therapy, regenerative medicine, and more. Easy to use and tailored for high-performance, our media streamline workflows, ensuring consistent and efficient outcomes in your experiments. Perfect for researchers seeking precision and quality in cell culture.
Trypsin
Trypsin is a proteolytic enzyme used to detach adherent cells and monolayers from culture vessels during cell harvesting and passaging. It cleaves at the C-terminal side of lysine and arginine, helping break down cell-adhering proteins for easy resuspension.abm offers porcine-derived trypsin, Trypsin-EDTA, and gentle trypsin-like dissociation solutions for different cell culture needs.
Trypsin inhibitors are used after dissociation to stop residual trypsin activity. They help prevent unwanted protein degradation and protect cells from prolonged enzyme exposure.
Organic trypsin formulations require inhibitor-based neutralization, while synthetic trypsin-like alternatives can be deactivated by dilution.
Supplements
Media supplements are often a vital component of successful cell culture experiments. There are many advantages of using cell culture supplements including customizing the growth conditions of your cells, improving cell viability and growth, and keeping cells healthier longer.
Cell culture media supplements help ensure the reliability and consistency of your cell culture and research results.
Coating Solutions
abm's Coating Solutions improve cell adhesion, spreading, and growth on culture surfaces. These ready-to-use formulations provide an optimal substrate for various cell types, including stem cells, primary cells, and adherent cell lines. By creating a more favorable environment for cells, coatings ensure better attachment, differentiation, and overall performance in research and biomanufacturing applications. Simple to apply and highly effective, our coating solutions support consistent, high-quality results in cell culture experiments.
Antibiotics
Antibiotics used in cell culture are designed to maintain sterile conditions or to provide reliable selection pressure in genetic manipulation experiments. These antimicrobial agents prevent bacterial and fungal contamination, ensuring the purity of your cultures.Certain antibiotics are used in cell selection, they help identify and maintain genetically modified cells by offering selective pressure, such as with puromycin or neomycin (G418), to only allow survival of cells with resistance genes. Ideal for gene expression studies, cell line development, and other genetic research, these antibiotics ensure optimal performance, reliable results, and a contaminant-free culture environment.
